The Opportunity

Bredin Centre for Career Advancement is seeking an Executive Director to build on the history and successes of Bredin. The Executive Director will lead the organization into the future ensuring strong financial performance and sustainability, collaborative community and government relations, and exemplary outcomes for Albertan’s economic independence.


Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director demonstrates leadership in the provision of strategic direction and operational oversight to ensure exemplary services in accordance with the organization’s vision and values.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader bringing experience, innovation and enthusiasm to the Bredin team. The Executive Director's performance is synonymous with organizational performance and identity.


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in relevant field, Masters Degree preferred.
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in an executive leadership role, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning abilities, including the ability to communicate the organization’s strategic future to the staff, Board, volunteers, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational, financial management skill, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of barriers faced by unemployed and underemployed Albertans, as well as strong labour market knowledge and issues faced by employers.
  • A commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Understanding of Board Policy governance principles.
  • History of building strong community relations and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong public speaking ability and work ethic
