Bredin Centre for Career Advancement is seeking to hire Career & Employment Specialists. Reporting to the Program Manager, the key responsibility of the Career & Employment Specialists is to provide clients with the support they may need to connect to employers and secure meaningful employment. Bredin’s Career & Employment Specialists work in the capacity of Career & Employment Coaches whose focus is preparing for the job search and Employment Outreach Specialists who are focused on connecting the employment ready client to job opportunities. The successful candidate(s) will be experienced in helping clients determine their service and training needs and knowledgeable of the current labour market demands in Alberta’s industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting assessments and career development sessions with clients to determine service needs, timelines and suitability to the program.
- Conducting scheduled progress review sessions and adjusting training and service schedules.
- Connecting clients to resources and supporting them in addressing challenges which may impede their ability to be successful in training and employment.
- Working cooperatively with the program team to assist clients with resume development, online profiles, interview preparation and in addressing the barriers to finding and maintaining employment
- Connecting clients to potential employers and ensuring good job matches.
- Performing case management duties including updating of client service plans, progress reviews, recording client milestones and outcomes.
- The collection and management of client information ensuring accurate and relevant case file management in accordance with funder guidelines and privacy regulations
- Staying informed of labour market trends and economic changes within industries and the current occupational demand.
- Working with the team to organize and host employer and community events that support clients in their employment goals.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in related field or the equivalent combination of experience and education
- 2+ years’ experience career coaching.
- Career Development Professional (CCDP) designation is considered an asset
- Ability to provide workshops or sessions using a variety of venues including in person, virtual, individual and group settings.
- Proven ability to develop positive coach-client relationships
- Ability to organize, prioritize and schedule daily client activities.
- Knowledgeable of career development principles and the application of those principles to employment services
- Demonstrated knowledge of the current Alberta Labour Market trends and outlooks.
- Fluent in Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Excel, and Outlook)
- A clean criminal record and vulnerable sector check
- Class 5 Drivers License and reliable transportation will be considered an asset for Employment Outreach Specialists.
