Don Gnatiuk is a leadership and governance enthusiast with over 30 years of experience at the executive level in the government and public sectors.
Don holds a professional designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors and has been honoured with the Queen’s Diamond and Platinum Jubilee Medals, Alberta Centennial Medal, Business Citizen of the Year Award and Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal. A graduate of Royal Roads University’s – Master of Business Administration in Executive Management program, Don’s educational background also includes an Associate Degree in Fire Sciences, as well as a multitude of designations and certificates, including Directors Education Program (DEP), Board Oversight for Strategy Change Management – Strategic Leadership Training, Crown Director Effectiveness, Non-for-Profit Governance Essentials Program.
Don is widely regarded as a leader who cares deeply about people and his community. During his career, Don has worked with leaders, owners, executive, managers and diverse personnel while serving in a variety of executive leadership positions, including the president, chief executive officer, executive director (external relations), vice-president of marketing and corporate development, and public board member. Don believes strongly in open communication and has a gift for successful change management. He has a proven ability to build networks within the greater community while at the same time, building a model of collaboration that effectively integrates people and business.
After a long and successful public policy career in Alberta, Don is now ready and energized to give back to his community in service to the Bredin Centre for Career Advancement. Don joined the Board in 2021 and is now the Chair. He sits on the Finance & Audit, Governance & HR, and Board Development committees.
Don also serves on the Athabasca University Board of Governors and is the Chair of GEF Seniors Housing Board of Directors.
