Using BIM
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is transforming the building and construction industry. Employees who demonstrate competency in BIM tools and an understanding of BIM theory are more valued in the industry. As the construction industry focuses more on the importance of these skills, engineers, architects, and technologists with gaps in this area will find they are at a disadvantage when applying for open positions. Our training program will give you the history and theory of BIM as well as the tools that are fast becoming essential to employers in your industry.
Whether you want to refresh your skills, or develop new skills, our 22 week ‘Building Information Modeling (BIM) - A Competency Development Program for Engineering, Architectural and Construction Professionals’ program will provide hands-on skill development through real world examples, moving from traditional 2D drafting to 3D modelling and virtual collaboration. The program is designed to upgrade the software skills of professionals working in industry sectors that are transitioning to BIM workflows.
Those interested may be civil, mechanical, plumbing, structural engineers and engineering technologists; architects, designers, technologists, and related professions in the building and construction industry.
What are the Benefits
This one of a kind training includes the development of technical skills in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, 3DS Max, Revit and Navisworks; skills commonly required by employers in the industry. As a leading example for industry education, this course focuses on using software to communicate internally and externally. You will have an opportunity to train with the current versions of Revit and AutoCAD used in the industry. You will gain a general understanding of building science, BIM theory and virtual collaboration. To enhance your learning experience and obtain real world experiences, an 8 week work experience will provide the opportunity to work with professionals in the field to further develop your skills. While you are completing the technical training, we will assist you in preparing for and conducting an effective job search.
